E-tailer Uses MDF to Concentrate on Core Business

Situation
Niche publisher of a regional magazine and related books, as well as a reseller of gift items representative of their local, was looking for an alternative to expanding their physical plant, while at the same time enabling them to exercise greater control and accountability over their processes, while allowing them to concentrate on their core business.
Solution
MDF met with members of the companies management team to understand their business and gain an understanding of the objectives they wished to accomplish. Due to the increase in business volume they had reached the point where they were looking at increasing the size of their current internal fulfillment center, acquiring and implementing an improved inventory system that would be integrated with order processing and their corporate accounting system, to provide real time information.
MDF proposed an outsourcing solution where all the inventory would be moved to its facility in Bristol, CT, freeing up the necessary space at the clients facility and reducing/eliminating the associated costs. In addition we proposed our web based fulfillment solution for managing the inventory, order and payment processing from various sales channels, and providing real time information for inventory status, order processing, and timely data transfers to update their internal accounting and reporting systems.
Going beyond our systems and facilities, we have assumed responsibility for the processing customer returns, catalog orders received by mail, and handing customer credit card issues.
